At last the cricket season is here, hopefully the cricket weather will follow soon.
Off the field of play we are setting out to improve our financial position and improve our assets. And the good news is we’ve had a great start to achieving our objectives. We are applying for grants and funding in many areas and I’m pleased to report we have had confirmation of a grant to have new covers and a Bowdry water remover.
We have a new major sponsor in Fairgrove Homes.
We are very grateful to them for the two year deal and hope that this is a beneficial arrangement all round. Please promote them whenever you can.
We also have three other new sponsors in Wilo, Oceanair and Anderson Green as well as our ongoing two other big sponsors in Wheatley Projects and Castlerock.
As you will be aware we have been doing fundraising for Karen’s Kitchen. A brilliant effort and response means we currently have donations and gift aid of just over £3,000 and on top of this we finished second in the Localgiving competition winning a further £500. A massive thanks you to everyone. The project continues and donations will continue to be accepted on the Localgiving page. Despite injury Karen is on target to complete the 1000km this year
There has also been another fundraising effort, the 20/20, which has raised £500 this to date.
All of this fits very well with our commitment to improve the Clubs assets and ensure we are on a sound Financial footing. If you have any new thoughts about sponsorship or new sponsors please contact a committee member.
On the cricket front the first team have got off to a good start winning the Premier League game played against Hucknall and the National Cup game against Elvaston. We now play Radcliffe on Trent in the next round on 13 May 18.
The Sunday team had an excellent win with our young talent doing well.
The U12’s started the youth matches and whilst putting up a great performance lost out to a very good Unity team.
Saturday hopefully sees sunshine and all four senior teams playing. Good luck to all of them and best wishes to all our teams and players for a good season.
All Stars starts on Friday 11thMay with increased numbers and we would encourage parents to see how they can help on the night.
We are always looking for new players, particularly youth players, to increase our numbers. Please feel free to invite interested players to net practise.
We have now consolidated our websites to use just the Kimberley.play-cricket.com and would welcome contributions from anyone with news or information. You can see all our cricket matches (fixtures & results), both senior and youth / junior, as well as events and other news.
On the social side we had good season kick off night and are looking forward to more events. The bar is usually open on a Friday night with some food being served for the youth training evening, come along and enjoy.
